Tutorial Competition Results

The tutorial competition is finally over! As we previously said, we are very satisfied with the submissions we received. The voting process was especially hard for us since the tutorials were all of high quality.

That being said, it is sad that some decided to try to inflate their vote counts by creating new accounts and voting for themselves. However, we have logged all of the IP addresses, usernames and timestamps for each vote and were able to filter out any duplicate vote, as well as any votes made by members who were not registered for at least two weeks prior to the start of the competition.

One of the submissions received a over a dozen votes within an hour, all for "Exploding Glass with a Ball in 3ds max 6." Since we take a strong stance on cheating we have decided to ban ejazkayani, the author of the tutorial. A great number of the votes came from the same IP within minutes of the previous one. We have decided not to even publish his tutorial.

After filtering votes by new members (members registered for less than two weeks prior to the competition) we arrived at the following member vote counts:

5. Making Money Fall
6. VRay HDRI Tutorial
7. Maya Full Body IK (FBIK)

We have also decided to augment the second place prize to $50 from $30.
