After long summer break, Eumel3d completed the third part and an EXCLUSIVE animation of an upcoming series of
3ds max tutorials which will blow your mind. In this part you will get a short introduction to the basic box-modeling techniques. And you will learn how to texture a "complicated" object using the modifier UnwrapUVW and the tool Normal Mapping...

Introduction
In the previous part, I explained how to create and texture a simple object. I used the lathe modifier to create the bell and created a nice looking material with the help of various pictures.
This time I will explain how to create a more complex model – the “wheel” that you can see in the pic above. I will also explain how to create the chain. To do so, you need to know how “box modelling” works.
Box modeling is the easiest and the fastest way to create complicated objects in 3dsmax, as all objects are based on one of the standard primitives (like boxes, spheres, cones,…)
Therefore I will give you a short introduction to the basic box-modeling techniques (the most important keys and buttons). With this you should be able to create the wheel. When the modeling part is done, we are going to texture the wheel.
Lets get it started!
