Polygon/Triangle Problem

3 messages Feed-icon

    *Ok, don't know if this is the right section to place this question so i'll appologise in advance in case it isn't*:whistling:

    OK, this seems to me as a relatively simple question.. (just don't know the answer):
    I have a (editable mesh) model in 3ds max and for some reason my polygons divide into triangles (without new lines). Now, I just want plain polygons, so no divided ones;)

    Here is a picture of my model (Problem visible):

    *note*: I usely work with 'editable polygon' so that may have something to do with me not understanding it:hammer:

    I would really appreciate a quick answer on this one:D
    when vetexes of a poly are not on a single plane, the poly wil be deformed based on it's simplest parts, which are triangles.
    I donna If I could explain it well. but if it's not clear, tell me to upload pictures which may be more useful
    First off: Thnx for the reply:)

    I think i got it a little;
    The triangles are created because my polygon isn't planar (or plane (dont know the excact word...). Therefore it divides itself into a simpler shape (aka the triangle).
    Is this correct?
    And if it is how can I make my polygons flat again?

    Thnx in advance(H)
