Hmmm.. that link does not help a bit...

And I am sorry but I do not have an answer to your question; I never use orthographic cameras.. They destroy all the perspective and are normaly used in CAD-projects; which I am not working on.

i know, that this topic is kinda old, but i will write something anyway!
i was searching for such a tool too, and downloaded the 30 trial of zbrush. they offer plenty of free video tutorials, which makes the learning quite easy. i was able to do it in the 30 days. so no steep learning curve! just try it!:D

be more specific! hahaha

difficult to do that when you don't know what to ask isn't it.

my suggestion would be to go to a model resource website, like turbosquid for instance and download some free models with textures, then you can load the model in max and apply a UVW unwrap to the model and investigate how the 'UV's' have been laid out.
You can then play with the UV's and edit them a bit to see how they react on the model.
I recommend getting a copy of 3ds Max bible and having a read, it might sound like hard work that way, but struggling and failing is less pleasant :)

just to add it to your list, I believe mudbox has this feature and is a little more 'max user' friendly in general.

I had the same problem and Found the solution on Autodesk froum which I solved it:
1- Get attached file "thumbnail.txt" from here:
http://discussion.autodesk.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/238-517917-5525219-147843/thumbnail.txt />
2- Save it as thumbnail.reg
3- Right click on it and choose merge.

I hope it solved your problem.
Enjoy

do you know the pros and cons of having a camera on orthographic? I did an animation and had the camera set to orthographic projection. It gives me the look I want but when I render out the ambient occlusion pass it flickers lines on and off of the geometry. when I take the camera off orthographic it does not give the flickering lines.

Anyone understand this and know how to fix???

tks, O
