Hi guys, my name's Adele and i would like to inform you...

VIEW Conference: Turin becomes the European Capital of digital media
Once again this year VIEW will focus on Turin, Italy for one week the attention of digital media professionals and enthusiasts. We decided to return to the Digital Week format, in which the festival, VIEWFEST, and the conference, VIEW Conference, are held consecutively, to optimise the synergies and complementary features: VIEWFEST reviews how the new technologies change the cinema's expressive solutions, a showcase for experimental creativity, and the VIEW Conference is an event during which professionals, companies and students meet for an opportunity of top level training and to summarise the activities which are performed best throughout the world. As every year we have endeavoured to improve on the previous year in terms of the quality and prestige of the speakers. I have to say that this year there are figures like WILL WRIGHT, the author of SPORE and THE SIMS, or CARS 2 Director, BRAD LEWIS, one of the top producers at PIXAR, who are included in that restricted number of individuals who really change our world. But the 100 or more guests from all over the world include many famous names! Only a few of their names will be mentioned, because the list would really be too long: MARK OSBORNE, Director of KUNG FU PANDA, HIROYUKI KOBAYASHI, producer of RESIDENT EVIL DEGERATION, CHRIS TAYLOR the author of DEMIGOD, DUNGEON SIEGE, MATTHEW CLARK premieres UBISOFT’S PRINCE OF PERSIA, LUCIA MODESTO from PDI-DREAMWORKS MADAGASCAR 2, KEN PERLIN the Oscar Award Winner, SHARON CALAHAN, Director of Photography of Pixar, MICHAEL RUBIN, the author of DROIDMAKER, PAUL TOPOLOS the Digital Matte Painter of PIXAR, GLENN ENTIS the brilliant Oscar award winner and BRUCE GRENVILLE of the Vancouver Art Gallery and the author of KRAZY! In view of the success achieved last year, we have endeavoured to enrich the more trainingrelated offer even further, with a rich series of master classes and workshops, in addition to the presentations. A number of the workshops will be organised in the Virtual Reality and Multimedia Park, renewing the partnership with this centre of technology excellence in Turin. VIEW is fast approaching its 10th anniversary, and has gradually achieved and consolidated the role of the most important digital graphics event in Italy, and its international status continues to grow. The major novelty this year, for which I am extremely proud, is that numerous leading companies, like UBISOFT, MILESTONE, SONY PICTURES ANIMATION, PIXAR and PDIDREAMWORKS will be present at VIEW to carry out recruiting, in other words, their HR Managers will be sent especially to Turin to select new personnel. This is an extraordinary opportunity for many young talents to present themselves to the major companies operating in the sector. A last special mention for this year that continues and strengthens our partnership tradition with the companies operating within the territory: we are pleased and proud that TELECOM ITALIA has chosen to organise PEACH: Presence and Future Markets in symbiosis with VIEW. The event has a very high international profile and will also be held in the Turin Incontra Conference Centre from 11-14 November. In essence, we try to improve every year, and above all we endeavour to propose an event that is not only interesting and important, but above all USEFUL: useful for companies, for professionals and for students who find their vocation for growth and professional success in the world of digital graphics.

Posted in: 3ds Max » Multiple materials

Hi folk. Im running a demo of 3dmax 2009 and I have a little problem I could use some help with please. Ive created a wall panel by extruding the framework out on an editable poly giving me the effect of the type of paneling you would get in a Tudor style house. What I want to do is assign different materials to the horizontal and vertical runners so that the wood grain runs in the correct direction. Im assuming that this is possible since doors can have multiple materials assigned to them, but how do I go about spliting up the surface to allow me to do so?
PLease make any instructions fairly easy to follow as Im fairly new to 3d work.
Thanks in advance
